Travel the World for Free

Cadets who are very successful in training can be selected for a number of international training activities.

The Army Cadet program provides the most opportunities for international travel out of the Sea, Army, and Air Cadet programs.

All travel opportunities occur during the summer months, and cadets are housed, fed, transported, and trained completely for free!

International Exchange

The Army Cadet program hosts a number of international exchanges every summer. These are:

  • Maple Leaf Exchange (England)
  • Outward Bound Scotland
  • Outward Bound Wales
  • Army Cadet Battlefield Tour (Europe Tour)

Training includes military cross training with the UK Army Cadet Force and cultural tours and visits. Excursions to neighboring countries (such as France and the Netherlands) may also occur during these trips.

International Expedition

International expeditions are outdoor trips that are both extremely challenging and rewarding. Cadets test their skills through climbing, trekking, paddling, and cycling in select locations across the world.

Past destinations include:

  • Mount Everest
  • Chile
  • Argentina
  • Morocco
  • Iceland
  • Italy

National Rifle Team (Bisley, UK)

Canada's top shooters have an opportunity to take part in international competitions as part of the National Rifle Team (NRT).

Cadets prepare for competition in Connaught, Ontario before departing to Bisley where they compete against the world's best marksmen.

We are proud to be one of the few units in Western Canada to have produced members of the NRT consecutively in the past few years.
